18 INCH STOCKER HENS

CONSTANT 40 MPH WINDS WITH GUSTS UP TO 60 OR MORE, THESE ARE WHAT I CONSIDER IDEAL CASTING CONDITIONS. NOT REALLY, BUT SOMEHOW OL' ANDY GOT ER' DONE AND LANDED SOME CUTTS AT PYRAMID. I MYSELF COULDN'T LAND THE FISH I HOOKED (SUCKER). WHILE TAKING A BEER BREAK THE LAKE TRIED TO CLAIM MY LADDER AND STRIPPING BASKET, SO I HAD TO CHARGE OUT THROUGH THE WHITE CAPS AND RECLAIM WHAT WAS MINE. STILL I HAD A BLAST AND I TAKE A LITTLE PRIDE IN KNOWING THAT FISH WERE CAUGHT ON FLIES I TIED. ANDYS OFF TO HUNT AXIS DEER AND I MYSELF AM HOPING TO RIDE POWDER THIS WEEK OR MAYBE TAKE CARE OF SOME UNFINISHED BUSINESS IN NEVADA.

  1. Can you tell me what the deal is with the ladders? I've seen this before but as far as I know that lake in Nevada is the only place where people practice this.

  2. it makes casting out to the deep holding water much easier. you walk out till your chest deep and set your ladder. now you can get up on the ladder and not worry about drowning. the winds out there are crazy and the lake can go from calm to white caps in a matter of minutes. making those 60 foot plus casts is easier from above the water. plus its a good place to set your beer.

  5. rm,
I gotta chime in on the ladder. Seeing that is a first for me. Love it! But makes me feel a little lazy in the drift boat. You got the True Grit!
